Project Objectives:
The design and development of postage stamp introduce the elements of scale in visual communication design. Students investigate various methodologies for small-scale design. Developing conceptually strong and visually cohesive universal vocabulary in one of the smallest space through the series of stamp design is challenging. Sketches and stamp design development will be done in a larger size and reduced in the final presentation.

Project Description:
-Design a panel of forever/55-cent/postcard postage stamp designs
-Panel must include stamp design, title, and design statement
-Each panel consists of 4 to 20 stamps/minimum 2 to maximum 20 different stamp designs
-Both perforated traditional presentation and self-adhesive type presentation are good on a pane

The Illustrations/Inspiration:
For the pattern design, I used inspiration and elements from chinaware pottery and ceramics. I wanted to allow the pattern to create an elegant way of defining the birds shape and body textures within their feathers.

Attention to Scale and Size:
When creating each illustration, I payed attention to the fact of how big the printed stamp would be. With this in mind, I used a simple color palette and made sure my detailed illustrations within each bird were big enough to be seen on a 2' by 3' stamp.
